ELDERLY, DISABLED, AND SOCIAL SERVICES

GMTA riderGMTA provides services to and collaborates with many human and social service agencies in the regions in which we serve. GMTA prides itself on being an organization that provides linkages with other agencies through the provision of transportation services for those most dependent.

ELDERLY & DISABLED SERVICES

These services are provided through a grant known as the Elderly and Disabled transportation program through the state of Vermont. Elderly and Disabled (E & D) funds support meal site, shopping, non-Medicaid medical and basic transportation needs for the elderly and people with disabilities. Distribution of these funds is allocated to each program through the determination of the REDPAC (Regional Elderly and Disabled Program Advisory Committee) on an annual basis. E&D funds are used to support services such as those listed below:

Central Vermont Council on Aging (CVCOA)

Non-Medicaid Medical
CVCOA is for those senior citizens (60+) who require non-Medicaid medical transportation. For basic non-Medicaid medical transportation, a voucher amount of $80 (current rate) is available for local residents within the city limits of Montpelier and Barre City. For those residents outside the Montpelier and Barre City area, a voucher amount of $200 (current rate) is available. If a client uses their entire COA voucher amount, they may qualify for additional funds under the Ticket to Ride program. For information on receiving non-Medicaid medical transportation service, please contact GMTA at 223-7287 to determine eligibility and availability.

Critical Care
COA transportation includes critical care service such as dialysis and cancer treatment. There is no capped amount for critical care for individuals, only a limit of how much is budgeted, which is based on state and local funding provided each fiscal year to provide this service.
