The Central Vermont Public Transit Advisory Board (CVPTAB) was established by the 2003 Vermont Legislature, and was created to advise on the assessing, planning, and provision of public transit services to meet the needs of the population of Central Vermont, which includes twenty towns in Washington County and the three towns of Orange, Washingon and Williamstown in Orange Couty. This population includes, but is not limited to, commuters, the general public, elderly, persons with disabilities and low-income persons, as well as those entering and leaving the region.
The CVPTAB plans appropriate responses to those needs in cooperation with other individuals and agencies, both public and private, and advises on access to jobs, social services, housing, shopping, medical services and education. CVPTAB was created to encourage mutual cooperation between municipalities, state and federal government, social service agencies, the private sector, and consumers in the planning, development and operation of public transportation; and to promote energy conservation. |
